Highly separated transonic flows

Attention is given to the wind tunnel, to photographic visualization of the flow, and to measurements by pressure probes, hot wire anemometry and laser anemometry. The simultaneous use of different means of measurement provided a good description of the phenomenon, and indicated the existence of shocks and their stability, as well as the existence of the bubble, its dimensions, and in particular, the reattachment of its front. The results show that the bursting (or transition) of the bubble front is produced at an unstable position and creates a point of turbulent intensity which diffuses over the entire height of the flow

Studies of the nucler equation of state using numerical calculations of nuclear drop collisions

A numerical calculation for the full thermal dynamics of colliding nuclei was developed. Preliminary results are reported for the thermal fluid dynamics in such processes as Coulomb scattering, fusion, fusion-fission, bulk oscillations, compression with heating, and collisions of heated nuclei

However, the authors present more than just a useful discussion of how to design, conduct, and analyze interviews. They simultaneously introduce the importance of philosophical approaches and ethics in relation to the topics discussed, making connections between these important notions and the qualitative research process they describe. Their practical approach to the topics presented makes their book a wonderful resource for novice researchers

Black Extended Objects, Naked Singularities and P-Branes

We treat the horizons of charged, dilaton black extended objects as quantum mechanical objects. We show that the S matrix for such an object can be written in terms of a p-brane-like action. The requirements of unitarity of the S matrix and positivity of the p-brane tension equivalent severely restrict the number of space-time dimensions and the allowed values of the dilaton parameter a. Generally, black objects transform at the extremal limit into p-branes.Comment: 9 pages, REVTE

Hypersonic Plasma Thermionic Generator

The Langmuir two-probe system is extended to cover the case of electron emission from one of the probes. The contact potential difference between the two probes is also included as part of the equations. One of the probes, known as the emitter, operates at sufficiently high temperatures such that electron emission occurs, while the other probe, known as the collector, operates at low enough temperatures such that its electron emission can be neglected

Gauge Invariance in Chern-Simons Systems

We show explicitly that the question of gauge invariance of the effective potential in standard scalar electrodynamics remains unchanged despite the introduction of the Chern-Simons term.
